At around 2.40am on Sunday 20 September 2020, police were called to Lees Road following reports that a person was lying in the road.
Officers attended and a woman in her 30s was taken to hospital. Her injuries are described as life-threatening. Her next of kin has been informed.
An investigation is underway.
Inspector Danny Byrne, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Firstly, I would like to say that our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she continues to receive treatment in hospital.
"Enquiries are ongoing but we believe that the victim was hit by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.
"I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage from the surrounding area at the time to share it with us so we can establish the full circumstances of this incident."
