Police are appealing to the public for information following a serious road traffic collision on the A580 East Lancashire Road in Leigh on Wednesday 25 March 2020.
Officers were called at around 2.55pm to reports that a grey Peugeot 3008 had collided with a cyclist close to the junction with Carr Lane.
The cyclist – a 16-year-old boy – suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Peugeot remained at the scene and has assisted officers with their enquiries.
No arrests have been made and police are appealing to witnesses to provide further information.
Police Constable Phil Drummond, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the teenage boy who has suffered very serious injuries as a result of this collision and we are doing all we can to ascertain the circumstances of this incident.
“I appealing to anyone who may have been travelling along the East Lancashire Road around the Leigh area between 2.50pm-3pm to come forward and assist with our investigation.
“In particular, we are interested in hearing from any road users who may have dash cam footage of the incident or the moments preceding the collision. Any information you have may prove to be of great importance.”
