This site is a beta, which means it's a work in progress and we'll be adding more to it over the next few weeks. Your feedback helps us make things better, so please let us know what you think.
This service is for social services, social care departments, care homes, schools, NHS staff, charities and partners to report a missing person.
Please note: If you submit a form through this service inappropriately it will not be picked up and dealt with by the correct team.
A person is considered missing if their whereabouts aren’t known and the circumstances are out of character; or if you think they may be a victim of crime, or be at risk of harming themselves or someone else. We consider them missing until located and their wellbeing established.
When you submit a form, we have not accepted responsibility for that request. We take time to assess every request. We have not assumed responsibility until we have agreed to accept the request and have confirmed this with you. Until then, you are responsible for taking any appropriate steps. Read more information on the Right Care, Right Person approach.
Report someone has returned without any concerns
We need as much relevant detail as possible to know how best to help in this situation, so please tell us as much as you can.
Click 'Start' below to provide as many details as you can about the returned person.
Average completion time: 10 minutes.
Information about the returned person that we will need from you:
Confirmation that they have been physically seen by the yourself or a colleague
Confirmation that you or a colleague has spoken to them about why they disappeared
Why did they go missing?
Where did they go?
Who were they with?
We’ll use the information you give us to assess the case and, if we’re satisfied that the person is returned safe and well, close the investigation.
