Operation AVRO - Airport
Operation AVRO is our force-wide monthly blitz on local crime which runs in a different district each month.
We will bring you real-time updates including images and video as activity continues throughout the day.

Our ANPR operation is underway with 45 vehicle interceptions so far. Officers have conducted 13 stop searches, seized 25 vehicles, and successfully arrested 8 individuals. 24 traffic offence reports and summonses have also been issued.
Officers have seized several vehicles believed to be operating without valid insurance. Our traffic op will continue to drive illegal motorists off the road. No insurance, no vehicle!
During our traffic operation at Manchester Airport, officers intercepted a vehicle sporting an Avro sticker but lacking rear plates. Just like the missing plates, illegal road users won't go unnoticed.
GMP's specialist officers are working to ensure smooth taxiing on the road and to ensure there's no runway for illegal vehicles here.
Our mounted unit has just touched down at the airport, ready to trot into action and ensure a smooth landing for public safety.

Our officers and staff will be joined by teams from British Transport Police, Transport for Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and colleagues from other partner agencies to keep people safe, disrupt criminal activity and reassure our communities in our dedicated day of action.
