What is the Plan on a Page?
Our Plan on a Page is a simple, accessible summary of what Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is working to achieve and how we will do it. It brings together our core purpose, our priorities, and the commitments we have made to the communities we serve—all in one place.
At its heart, the Plan on a Page sets out:
- What we are here to do
- What we have promised to deliver
- How our work supports our wider strategic priorities
Why it matters
The Plan on a Page was first introduced in 2021 following an independent inspection which highlighted the need for significant improvement. Since then, it has played an important role in helping drive change across the organisation, contributing to strong progress and national recognition as the most improved police force in the UK.
Our current plan
With solid foundations now in place, our refreshed Plan on a Page: Achieving Outstanding sets out our ambition to deliver one of the best policing services in the country.
It focuses on the issues that matter most to our communities, including:
- Neighbourhood policing – being visible, responsive, and connected to local communities
- Protecting vulnerable people – with a strong focus on child protection
- Tackling serious and organised crime
- Improving efficiency and effectiveness – making the best use of our resources
Looking ahead
The Plan on a Page guides everything we do. It helps ensure we stay focused on delivering excellent policing every day, while continuing to improve and build trust with the public we serve.
