Below is a summary of activity we've undertaken as part of the Safe4Summer campaign across Bolton:

Officers and partners from Bolton at Home, Neighbourhood Watch, Bolton Borough litter pickers, and numerous agencies from Bolton Council have been spending time improving the area in Rumworth for Thornbank Estate residents this week.
From cleaning up the outdoor areas to signposting support services and promoting Bee in the Loop, local neighbourhood officers Sergeant Oli Cooper, PC Connor Finch, and PC Oz Patel were on hand to help with litter picking, address residents’ concerns, and patrol the area.
A huge number of bags were cleared from the yards of the three buildings, amounting to four skips cleared and taken away.

On 14 August, Chief Superintendent Helen Critchley and GMP’s South Bolton Neighbourhood Team led a proactive day of action in Bolton town centre as part of the Safe4Summer campaign.
The operation focused on road safety and community engagement. Officers conducted a traffic operation on Thynne Street and Trinity Street, targeting mobile phone use, seatbelt violations, and vehicle defects. 13 vehicles were stopped, resulting in 11 traffic offences.
Alongside enforcement, officers engaged with local residents and businesses to raise awareness of road safety and promote community policing.

Operation Avro – which coincided with Safe4Summer – returned to Bolton on Thursday 21 August 2025.
GMP runs Operation Avro in a different district within Greater Manchester each month in a bid to tackle the communities’ main concerns.
The proactive operation occurred while we welcomed Safe4Summer—part of the Home Office ‘Safer Streets Summer Initiative’—aimed at reducing crime across our town centres and communities in our region.
Over the course of the operation, 45 arrests were made, 17 warrants were conducted, 68 traffic offence reports (TOR) were issued, and nine vehicles were seized.
