Below is a summary of activity we've undertaken as part of the Safe4Summer campaign across Manchester:
On Tuesday 15 July 2025, officers and partners came together to patrol the city’s most problematic areas in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.
A total of eight arrests were made within Piccadilly Gardens over the course of the day for a range of offences, including immigration, public order, robbery, and breach of Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The Piccadilly Gardens neighbourhood policing team has been working with GMP Specialist Operations TAU—Tactical Aid Unit officers, patrolling the Gardens to heighten visibility and tackle crime in ‘hotspot’ areas.
TAU officers carried out weapon and drug sweeps and stop searches, during which they recovered several knives, which were seized for destruction.
Inspector Kam Hare from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We’re determined to ensure the city centre and Piccadilly Gardens are safer places for everyone. The Safe4Summer initiative is a testament to our dedication to reducing crime and enhancing the quality of life for businesses, residents, and visitors to the city centre."

Officers secured four arrests on Monday 18 August, following a day of action targeting suspected criminality in the Piccadily Gardens area.
The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team took swift enforcement against offenders while also offering vital support to some of Manchester City Centre’s most vulnerable residents.
Throughout the day, officers arrested four individuals for a range of offences, including Breach of Court Bail, Breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order, and an outstanding warrant.
