Below is a summary of activity we've undertaken as part of the Safe4Summer campaign across Oldham:
Local neighbourhood officers were out and about in Oldham town centre.
During the patrol, a positive stop search for cannabis was carried out.
During the first two weeks of the Safe4Summer initiative, the town centre neighbourhood team has made over 20 arrests, over 25 stop and searches, and has issued numerous community protection warnings and community protection notices to individuals acting in an antisocial manner.

In a joint operation with Trading Standards, officers from GMP’s prevention hub uncovered and seized a large quantity of illicit tobacco and disposable vapes from a premises in Shaw.
Inspector Katherine Murray from the Oldham district said, “Greater Manchester Police are committed to tackling the production and distribution of illegal substances and counterfeit goods, and we are continuing to act on intelligence to remove these goods from our streets.
“This raid was one of many great successes across the district thanks to partnership working alongside local authorities, Trading Standards, and Oldham Council.”

Officers across the Oldham district co-ordinated a range of activity to target nominals involved in organised immigration crime without the right to work.
Three e-bikes were seized for no insurance, and one arrest was made.
Inspector Katherine Murray said, “Activity we are undertaking as part of Safe4Summer will ensure we are acting on feedback from our communities, ensuring Oldham is a safe place to live, work, and socialise in.”

Neighbourhood officers from the Oldham town centre team have been working in partnership with licencing officials to carry out joint spot checks on licensed private hire and hackney carriages to assess compliance and vehicle standards.
The checks also endeavour to identify drivers committing traffic offences and gather information and intelligence relating to taxi-enabled crime.
During one day of activity, 13 vehicles were reported for vehicle imperfections and not displaying the correct signage, and 19 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were issued.

Operation Vulcan officers joined a community event at Stoneleigh Park in Derker, organised by Friends of Stoneleigh Park as part of the council’s holiday activities.
The Vulcan team regularly attends these gatherings to engage with residents, build trust, and strengthen relationships—especially with young people.
They were joined by neighbourhood officers, PCSOs, Police Cadets, GMP’s Positive Action Team, and the Mounted Unit.
The Deputy Mayor Kate Green also attended the event so she could see firsthand the positive work that comes from events like these.
Children had the opportunity to meet officers, sit in our vehicles, test out the blue light systems, and try on uniforms.

Thanks to everyone who popped in for a chat with our local officers and partners at the community surgery in Guinness Housing.

Officers from the Oldham Neighbourhood Policing Team recently joined forces with colleagues from the Road Traffic Policing Unit as part of Operation Considerate.
This proactive initiative, which forms part of our ongoing Safe4Summer campaign, led to the stopping of numerous vehicles found to be in breach of traffic laws.
Over 30 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were issued, and six vehicles were seized for various offences.
