Below is a summary of activity we've undertaken as part of the Safe4Summer campaign across Tameside:

Officers from the neighbourhood team, alongside partners from Immigration Enforcement, have been conducting e-bike and immigration status checks across the district.
A total of 21 checks were undertaken, resulting in two vehicles seized for no insurance and one wanted individual arrested.
This is just one example of regular policing activity in your area, working hand in hand with the Home Office ‘Safer Streets Summer Initiative’, aiming to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) and keep our communities safe.

Operation Avro – which coincided with Safe4Summer – returned to Tameside on Thursday 25 September 2025.
This month the force focussed its resources on combatting the crime that matters the most to the local community in Tameside, resulting in a total of 42 arrests made over the course of the day for offences ranging from possession with intent to supply to shoplifting.

GMP proudly participated in the inaugural Employer Supported Policing (ESP) National Day of Action on Wednesday 24 September - a nationwide initiative celebrating the vital role of Special Constables and the support provided by their employers.
Special Constables joined colleagues from approximately 25 police forces participating across the UK, focusing on priority areas including retail crime, road safety, and anti-social behaviour.
In Greater Manchester, operations were centred around Crown Point Shopping Park in Denton and surrounding areas, where officers engaged directly with businesses, visitors, and residents to address local concerns.
