Greater Manchester Police welcomes applications from:
Serving Special who wants to transfer to GMP Specials
GMP welcomes Specials who wish to transfer from other Forces.
The process for doing so will depend on your training / experience within your existing Force – but we will aim to provide a fast-track transfer process, rather than the full / standard recruitment process for Specials.
It should be noted that it may not be possible to post Specials transferees into a supervisory role where you held one in your previous Force. This will be subject to resource allocation policy / dependent on where vacancies exist.
Former Special who wants to re-join the GMP Specials
We welcome the return of previously resigned Specials, who have reconsidered their decision and would like to re-join.
If you resigned within a period of up to 12-months, we will aim to provide a fast-track (Special) re-joiner process, rather than the full / standard recruitment process for Specials
Should you wish to re-join:
It should be noted that it may not be possible to reinstate Specials into a supervisory role where you held one prior to resignation, nor can we guarantee a return to the same Division as that prior to resignation. This will be subject to resource allocation policy / dependent on where vacancies exist.
Former (Regular) Police Officers who want to join the GMP Specials
Former Regular Police Officers can bring a wealth of experience, skills and training to the role of a Special, and as such, we welcome your return to the Force as a Special.
If you resigned within a period of up to 12-months, we will aim to provide a fast-track (Regular) re-joiner process, rather than the full / standard recruitment process for Specials
Should you wish to join the Specials:
It should be noted that where you previously held a supervisory Rank prior to resignation, it cannot be guaranteed that a supervisory role is available within the Specials, nor can we guarantee a return to the same Division as that prior to resignation. This will be subject to resource allocation policy / dependent on where vacancies exist.
