We are aware of a number of social media posts circulating which may identify potential victims of sexual offences in connection with the live investigation into Reynhard Sinaga.
We would like to stress that under the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000, victims of sexual offences have a lifelong right to anonymity and therefore any post which identifies victims of sexual offences constitutes a criminal offence. Additionally these posts risk jeopardising an ongoing investigation into serious crime.

A Special Case Hearing involving a Greater Manchester Police officer, Former Constable Waqar Syed, is to take place on 24 January 2020
A Special Case Hearing (in accordance with Part 5 of the Police (Conduct) Regulations 2012) involving a Greater Manchester Police officer, Former Constable Waqar Syed, is to take place on 24 January 2020.
The Special Case Hearing will take place in the Media Suite at Greater Manchester Police Force Headquarters, Central Park, Northampton Road, Manchester, M40 5BP.
The Special Case Hearing will begin at 1:30pm.
The alleged conduct which is the subject matter of the Special Case Hearing is an alleged breach of the ‘Discreditable Conduct’ & ‘Confidentiality’ Standards of Professional Behaviour.
If you wish to attend you will be required to pre-register on the GMP Website. Anyone who has not pre-registered will not be allowed in the hearing. Anyone attending after the hearing has started will not be allowed entry. The number of persons able to attend the hearing is limited by available space and is therefore restricted to a maximum of 20 plus 4 members of the press. Persons will be allowed to attend on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Any person who has not pre-registered will not be permitted to attend the hearing.
Any person who has pre-registered but attends after the hearing has started will not be allowed entry. The hearing is being held on police premises.
Any persons attending will have to be escorted when moving around the location and anyone behaving in a disruptive manner at the hearing will be escorted off the premises.
No recording or filming of the Special Case Hearing is permitted and any person attending may be searched upon entry to Greater Manchester Police Force Headquarters.
Persons attending will note that no parking or refreshment facilities are available at the venue.
