If you're planning a route with an abnormal vehicle load, you may need to notify us and perhaps arrange a police escort. Answer our quick questions below to find out if you need to notify us and the best way to do it.
My overall vehicle length is 18.65m (61'2") to 26m (85')
Thank you. In this case you need to notify us.
With an abnormal load of this size you may also need a police escort if we think it's necessary.
Please note, abnormal vehicle loads are not permitted on any motorway or A/B road within Greater Manchester between 0630 - 0930 and 1530 -1830 Monday to Friday.
You can notify us online using the UK government's free electronic service delivery for abnormal loads (ESDAL) system here.
This will help you plot your route and notify all the relevant authorities, including us.
You can also visit the UK government's website, where you can find out which authorities you'll need to notify and download all the relevant forms.
