I am Inspector Kat Murray, and I have ownership of the neighbourhood policing for Alt, Holts, Hathershaw, Alexandra, Glodwick, St Mary’s, Oldham town centre, Westwood and Coldhurst.
I joined Greater Manchester Police over 20years ago, starting as a PCSO in Oldham. After 2years I joined as a Police officer, also based at Oldham. I have remained here ever since. I class Oldham as my second home.

I am extremely passionate about making Oldham a safe place to live, work and visit as is my team.

We are aware of the issues each community is facing and are working hard with our partners to resolve these issues. It is just as important to us as it is to you. However, we can’t do this alone. We have launched a service called Bee in the loop, which allows you to contact your local officer directly about the issues that are impacting you the most.

I am Sgt Peter Heslop and joined Greater Manchester Police in 2007 after transferring from the Metropolitan Police.
I have served all across the city working in various departments until I transferred to Oldham in 2014. I have worked on the response teams and then moved into the neighbourhood team in 2020.
I manage the Neighbourhood Policing Team dedicated to serving the Coldhurst and Westwood area of Oldham. The team comprising of uniformed officers, PCSOs, special constables, and support staff—all working collaboratively.
The unit partners with Oldham Council, community leaders, and housing associations (e.g. FCHO) to share intelligence and tackle local problems, such as anti-social behaviour, priority crime and environmental concerns.
We are passionate about making Coldhurst a safe and welcoming place.
My team are dedicated to open communication, regular face-to-face contact, and collaborative problem-solving. Key Responsibilities & Priorities
• Crime Prevention & Reduction:
• Tackling issues like anti-social behaviour, vehicle crime, and neighbourhood issues through intelligence-led patrols and strategic operations.?
• Community Engagement: Actively use platforms such as community meetings and “Bee in the Loop” to gather local feedback, share updates, and strengthen ties with residents.
• Supporting Youth & Vulnerable People: Collaborates with schools and community groups to educate youth on knife crime, cyber-bullying, and personal safety, while also helping vulnerable residents through victim care and safeguarding initiatitives.

I am Police Constable 16546 MIAH based at Oldham police station and attached to the Neighborhood police team covering Westwood and Coldhurst. I have over 9 years of frontline policing experience covering emergency response, Multi-agency safeguarding team, Incidents progression team, prisoner processing unit and for the last 4 years covering neighborhood policing team.

I am the local mosque liaison officer where I build bridges for the Muslim community within the borough of Oldham, which involves regular meetings and visit with the local community leaders, seldom heard communities and the mosques. I do regular visits to the local businesses, education establishments such as the colleges and schools for engagement events. In the downtime, I also tackle local issues such as drug dealing, anti-social behavior and road traffic policing, to ensure our communities are safe, and their concerns are heard, ultimately leading to safer neighborhoods. I also hold and have important relationships with our local partners within the local authority, housing partners, elected councilors, and local community leaders. I am always available to meet and engage with my local community when required.

PC Raheel Akhtar
Neighbourhood Officer - Coldhurst and Westwood Ward
I have proudly served with Greater Manchester Police for the past seven years and currently work as the dedicated Neighbourhood Officer for the Coldhurst and Westwood Ward. In this role, I work closely with residents, local businesses, community groups, and partner agencies to address local concerns, reduce crime, and improve community safety.
My current priorities include tackling retail crime and pursuing Criminal Behaviour Orders against prolific offenders, addressing drug-related activity reported by residents, and responding to anti-social behaviour that impacts the quality of life within the community. I am also committed to resolving long-standing community issues by working collaboratively with partner organisations and local stakeholders to develop sustainable solutions.
Community engagement is at the heart of my role. I regularly host community surgeries, attend Home Watch meetings, and engage directly with residents to understand their concerns and ensure that local policing priorities reflect the issues that matter most to the community. I believe in being visible and approachable, and I am always available to speak with residents, whether at local meetings, community events, or while out on patrol.

Neighbourhood Officer – Oldham Central - Coldhurst Ward
I am a Police Community Support Officer with Greater Manchester Police, currently serving within the neighbourhood team in Oldham Borough. I’ve been a PCSO for over 20 years and a further 7 years as a Special Constable, during which time I’ve covered several different areas within Greater Manchester. In my role, I work closely with residents, businesses and partner organisations to address local concerns, increase community safety and support problem-solving within our neighbourhoods.
My priorities include tackling anti-social behaviour, supporting vulnerable members of the community and helping to prevent crime through engagement and partnership working. I try to regularly attend community events and neighbourhood meetings to listen to residents and ensure that local policing is focused on the issues that matter most.
I encourage residents to engage with their local neighbourhood team, attend community meetings and share any concerns so that we can work together to make our communities safer, stronger and more connected.

Coldhurst Neighbourhood Team.
I have served with Greater Manchester Police for 8 years and currently work as part of the neighbourhood team for Coldhurst on the Central ward of Oldham. My role is to work closely with residents, businesses and partner agencies to address local concerns and improve community safety.
My current focus includes ASB, School engagement and supporting long-term problem solving within the community. I regularly attend neighbourhood engagement events and work with local partners to tackle the issues that matter most to residents.
I encourage members of the community to attend local meetings and share their concerns so that together we can help make our neighbourhood a safer place to live, work and visit.
