Your Neighbourhood Policing Team
I am Inspector Amie Whitehead and I am responsible for Oldham South & West which covers Failsworth, Hollinwood, Medlock Vale, Chadderton and Werneth.
I have over 23 years experience in GMP and have worked in many different departments and roles during that time but have always stayed in district Policing. I served the first 18 years of my career in Rochdale before I moved to Oldham in 2019 on promotion.
I am passionate about Neighbourhood Policing and the positive impact this can have. The landscape of the South & West of Oldham sees my teams dealing with a wide variety of incidents and crime type. This ranges from dealing with local crime, disorder and ASB to protecting the most vulnerable people in our area and improving the quality of life for our residents.
I want my teams to engage with their communities, understand the issues that are important to you and work with you to make Oldham a safer place to live and work. We hold regular surgeries across the area and take part in lots of community events to be visible in your community. My team and I also have strong relationships with other key partners and we meet with them regularly to establish joint priorities and work together to resolve them.

Your local neighbourhood policing team will be carrying out high-visibility patrols around Failsworth as part of a targeted initiative to prevent and deter shoplifting offences. These patrols aim to provide reassurance to businesses, retailers and members of the public, while proactively addressing criminal activity in the area.
Action taken:
We will also be working with stores to try and mitigate offences. Criminal Behaviour Orders will be utilised to manage persistent offenders.

Vehicle Crime - Theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles.
Action taken:
We will be increasing visible patrols in high-risk areas to deter offenders and provide reassurance to the public. Our teams will also gather and collate intelligence to help identify and track suspects.

Priority:
Off road bike issues. The neighbourhood policing team has identified the use of off-road bikes as a priority due to ongoing concerns from residents regarding anti-social behaviour, noise nuisance, dangerous riding, and risks to public safety. The unlawful use of off-road bikes can cause significant disruption to local communities, damage public spaces, and place both riders and members of the public at risk.
Action taken:
Your local neighbourhood Team are working hard to identify those responsible and bring them to justice through proactive policing we will conduct high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations where off-road bike activity has been reported.
Respond proactively to intelligence provided by residents, partner agencies, and local councillors.
