I am Inspector Amie Whitehead and I am responsible for Oldham South & West which covers Failsworth, Hollinwood, Medlock Vale, Chadderton and Werneth.
I have over 23 years experience in GMP and have worked in many different departments and roles during that time but have always stayed in district Policing. I served the first 18 years of my career in Rochdale before I moved to Oldham in 2019 on promotion.
I am passionate about Neighbourhood Policing and the positive impact this can have. The landscape of the South & West of Oldham sees my teams dealing with a wide variety of incidents and crime type. This ranges from dealing with local crime, disorder and ASB to protecting the most vulnerable people in our area and improving the quality of life for our residents.
I want my teams to engage with their communities, understand the issues that are important to you and work with you to make Oldham a safer place to live and work. We hold regular surgeries across the area and take part in lots of community events to be visible in your community. My team and I also have strong relationships with other key partners and we meet with them regularly to establish joint priorities and work together to resolve them.
My Officers are working hard to improve communication with you. I would like to encourage you to sign up to Bee In The Loop, GMPs two-way community messaging service so that you can stay informed about what is happening in your area and what the Police are doing to tackle it. You can also follow GMP Oldham on Facebook for regular information and updates or contact the team directly.

I have served with Greater Manchester Police for 25 years and currently work as the Neighbourhood Police Sergeant for Failsworth and Hollinwood. I lead neighbourhood policing teams working closely with residents, businesses, schools and partner agencies to address local concerns and improve community safety.
My current focus includes tackling anti-social behaviour, reducing neighbourhood crime, protecting vulnerable people and supporting long-term problem solving within the community. I am particularly passionate about community engagement and youth-focused initiatives, working closely with schools, local organisations and partner agencies to build trust, confidence and positive relationships between the police and the communities we serve.
I regularly attend community meetings and engagement events and encourage residents to share their concerns and priorities so that together we can make Failsworth and Hollinwood safer places to live, work and visit.
PC Megan Rose
Neighbourhood Officer – Limeside and Hollinwood
I have served with Greater Manchester Police for almost four years and am proud to be a Neighbourhood Officer for Limeside and Hollinwood. During my service, I have worked in Response Policing, the District Investigation Team (DIT) and now Neighbourhood Policing. These roles have given me valuable experience in supporting victims, investigating offences and working proactively to address the issues affecting our communities.
What I enjoy most about neighbourhood policing is the opportunity to build relationships with residents and make a positive difference to the area I serve. My current focus includes tackling anti-social behaviour, addressing community concerns and working with partner agencies to find long-term solutions to local issues. I regularly patrol the area, attend community events and listen to the concerns of those who live and work here.
I believe the best results are achieved when police and the community work together. I encourage residents to speak with me and the neighbourhood team, attend local meetings and share any concerns so that together we can help make Limeside and Hollinwood a safer place to live, work and visit.
I have served with Greater Manchester Police for three years and am currently the Neighbourhood Beat Officer for Hollinwood and Limeside. I am passionate about proactive neighbourhood policing and spend much of my time out in the community identifying issues early, targeting those responsible for crime and anti-social behaviour, and working to prevent problems from escalating.
My role involves working closely with residents, schools, businesses and partner agencies to tackle the concerns that matter most to local people. Whether addressing anti-social behaviour hotspots, disrupting criminal activity, safeguarding vulnerable individuals or supporting community initiatives, I am committed to finding practical solutions that deliver lasting improvements.
I enjoy being a visible presence in the area and believe that effective neighbourhood policing is built on trust, engagement and action. By gathering community intelligence, carrying out high-visibility patrols and working alongside local partners, I aim to make Hollinwood and Limeside safer places for everyone.
I encourage residents to speak with me about issues affecting their neighbourhood. The information and feedback provided by the community is invaluable in helping me identify priorities, solve local problems and take positive action where it is needed most. Together, we can continue to make Hollinwood and Limeside strong, safe and thriving communities.

Off road bike issues. The neighbourhood policing team has identified the use of off-road bikes as a priority due to ongoing concerns from residents regarding anti-social behaviour, noise nuisance, dangerous riding, and risks to public safety. The unlawful use of off-road bikes can cause significant disruption to local communities, damage public spaces, and place both riders and members of the public at risk.
