I’m Jay Uppal and have been a police officer for Greater Manchester Police for nearly 25 years and currently work as the neighbourhood sergeant covering Kingsway, Smallbridge & Firgrove. My role involves working with residents, local businesses and partner agencies to address crime, anti-social behaviour and other issues affecting the local community.
My current priorities include tackling retail crime, reducing anti-social behaviour and improving community confidence through visible neighbourhood policing. I regularly attend engagement events and community meetings and work closely with partner organisations to identify and resolve local issues.
We aim to keep in touch through our social media pages, “Bee in the Loop” and other regular surgeries in the local area.

You can contact any of your neighbourhood staff directly and we aim to respond as soon as we can to any issues.
I cover a diverse area, however the common themes of crime and anti-social behaviour, drug dealing and road safety remain our core business in each ward area.
I look forward to meeting you in your individual communities.

Neighbourhood Officer – Kingsway
I have served with Greater Manchester Police for two years and currently work as the neighbourhood officer for Kingsway. My role involves working closely with residents, local businesses, and partner agencies to address community concerns and improve public safety.
My current priorities include tackling anti-social behaviour, addressing local crime trends, and supporting long-term problem-solving initiatives within the Kingsway area. I am also focused on reducing shoplifting by working collaboratively with local retailers, implementing problem-solving plans, and conducting hotspot patrols to deter offenders and provide reassurance to the community.
I regularly attend neighbourhood engagement events and collaborate with local organisations to identify and resolve issues that matter most to residents. I encourage members of the community to attend local meetings and share their concerns so that, together, we can make Kingsway a safer and more welcoming place to live, work, and visit.
