Find your local officer, get the latest crime statistics and advice, help us with appeals for information and find out what we’re doing to tackle crime in your area: Tameside | Greater Manchester Police
Below is a summary of activity we've undertaken as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action across Tameside:

Tameside - you told us you were concerned about ongoing anti‑social behaviour in Ashton‑under‑Lyne town centre that was affecting public safety, confidence and the overall environment.
In response your committed local neighbourhood officers have taken action.
Sergeant Rob Froggatt leads Operation Barbican, a neighbourhood‑led town centre anti‑social behaviour (ASB) and reassurance operation based in Ashton‑under‑Lyne.

During our Neighbourhood Week of Action the teams from Tameside have been promoting the impact of strong partnership working between the police, the council and other agencies to keep our communities safe.
The Council’s CCTV service continues to play a vital role within this wider community safety approach, providing reassurance to the public while acting as an effective tool in both the prevention and detection of crime. Although the CCTV team is not a prosecuting authority, the intelligence and evidence they provide are crucial in supporting both local authority services and Greater Manchester Police.
Between April 2025 and March 2026, proactive monitoring and vigilance delivered real results, assisting GMP in the following:
• Identifying 205 individuals for arrest
• 89 vulnerable or missing individuals safeguarded
• 47 wanted individuals located or breaches of Community Behaviour Orders identified
Chief Inspector Grundy said: “These outcomes highlight what we can achieve when we work together protecting the vulnerable, tackling crime, and making our neighbourhoods safer places for everyone. Our local CCTV operators have expert knowledge of the area and provide incredible support to our teams. Our local neighbourhood officers work closely with these operators to ensure effective action is taken where communities need us.”
