Westhoughton North

I am Inspector Will Coleman and I manage the West Geographical area of Bolton, with responsibility for Horwich & Blackrod, Westhoughton, Heaton and Lostock.
I joined Greater Manchester Police in 2009 and have worked on the Bolton District for the entirety of my service. In 2021 I was promoted to Sergeant and in 2025 to Inspector.
I moved to the Neighbourhood team in July 2026 having previously worked on the district’s response and tasking teams.
I’m incredibly proud to be a Police Officer and to have reached the rank of Inspector. I care passionately about Policing and the positive impact my officers can make to the communities we are responsible for.
My team is full of dedicated and really experienced officers at Sergeant, Constable and PCSO levels. The team is really well supported by our local partners and our aim is to improve the quality of life for residents by problem solving and responding to concerns and issues raised.
My team will be visible on their beats, identifying and robustly dealing with suspects through pro-active use of police powers to reduce offending, anti-social behaviour and achieving positive outcomes for victims and the wider community.

I am Sergeant Mark Robertson, and I am the Sergeant responsible for the Westhoughton Neighbourhood Policing team.

I joined the Greater Manchester Police in 1994 as a Special Constable based on the Bolton division, before joining the regular service in 2000.

I was then posted to the Bury division, where I have held positions in Response/Neighbourhood/ Pro-Active Teams/ Tasking Teams/Burglary and Robbery Units, before becoming a Detective in 2014 where I spent the next 7 years in the CID.

In 2021 I was promoted to Sergeant and posted back to Bolton working on the Response teams from Scholey Street.

In October 2023 I moved to my current role within the Westhoughton Neighbourhood Team.

My aim is to reduce crime and Anti-Social Behaviour by problem solving and responding to issues and concerns raised by Westhoughton residents.

My team will be visible on their beats, identifying and robustly dealing with suspects through pro-active use of police powers to reduce offending, anti-social behaviour and achieving positive outcomes for victims and the wider community.

I have served with Greater Manchester Police for 20 years and currently work as the neighbourhood officer for Westhoughton North. My role is to work closely with residents, businesses and partner agencies to address local concerns and improve community safety.
My current focus includes dealing with youth related anti-social behaviour, investigating crime, addressing concerns around road safety and supporting long-term problem solving within the community. I also have an interest in wildlife and rural crime, and I am keen to develop my knowledge around this area of policing. I regularly attend neighbourhood engagement events and work with local partners to tackle the issues that matter most to residents. Positive engagement with our younger residents is important to me and I am proud to be supporting Bolton’s Mini Police Programme.

I have served with Greater Manchester Police for 5 years and currently work as the neighbourhood officer for Westhoughton North and Hunger Hill. My role is to work in close partnership with residents, and businesses as well as partner agencies to address issues such as anti-social behaviour, retail crime, burglary, and others issues which are important to the local community. My current focus includes anti-social behaviour and retail crime, and I am keen on supporting long term problem solving. I regularly attend engagement events and community meeting, often holding my own to engage with partner organisations and the local community to identify and resolve issues. I encourage any resident with an issue or concern to come and speak with me at local events so we can look to resolve and work together to improve the local area.
