about

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is a group of local police officers and staff dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of police officers and a dedicated Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). These are supported by additional officers and staff from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for your area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on the basics: to fight, prevent and reduce crime, whilst keeping people safe and caring for victims.

If you want to receive regular updates about what we're doing in your area, want to contact us easily with your feedback, or receive alerts about incidents, you can sign up to our community alerts system. You'll receive emails or text messages about the issues you tell us you want to know about.

    You Said, We Did:
Operation Halt has been put in place regarding repeat complaints of speeding and other road related concerns.

Over the past few months, the local NPT team have been tackling reports of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), including drug dealing, drug use and parking issues across the respective areas. We have been supported by the Council’s Housing Services and Anti-Social Behaviour team who have utilised their powers to issue Anti-Social Behavioural Contracts and Community Protection Notices to protect the interests of the community.

Speeding remains a priority for our team and alongside conducting regular vehicle stops and traffic operations when possible, we are also in the process of setting up a Community Speed Watch scheme (CSW). The scheme aims to tackle local speeding issues and allows residents to become police-trained volunteers to monitor vehicle speeds in their communities, with the aim of changing the behaviour of road users who drive above the speed limit through that area.

Officers have been conducting stop searches whilst on patrol which has led to multiple drug seizures. We review all the information that is passed on to us regarding drug possession and supply, this helps build our intelligence picture and is used proactively by the team to obtain drug warrants and disrupt drug production and supply. In the past few months several positive warrants have been conducted thanks partly to information provided from members of the public.

Our PCSO’s are attending schools regularly, helping to deliver safety messages to pupils across the borough. During drop off and pick up times they show presence to ensure that those who use vehicles do so in a safe and courteous manner.

Throughout the summer the team will be attending and supporting various community led events and engaging with the community. We would love to hear about any upcoming concerns in your area so we can work to prevent potential crime or ASB.

Any information or concerns to report these via the GMP website or anonymously via CrimeStoppers using the telephone number 0800 555 111.

For any more general issues or if you wish to be placed in touch with your local Police Officer or PCSO please email [email protected] or call 0161 856 8204 (office hours).

You can sign up to BeeInTheLoop for news on your local area. Thanks.
