I’m Ian Thomson, Inspector, Chorlton, Chorlton Park, East and West Didsbury and Whalley Range

I’ve worked for GMP for a number of years covering various areas and in a variety of roles. I want to make our community safe and free of crime

I started my career 22 years ago in Leigh and have worked in different roles across Wigan and then onto Salford. Having been promoted to Inspector I arrived in the City Of Manchester area in 2018 and became your Neighbourhood Inspector in 2019.

I am passionate about serving our community and the team will continue to work tirelessly to solve the issues in our community. We will continue to work closely with partners to ensure a collaborative approach to tackling the issues is raised in our community

Our current neighbourhood priorities include Shoplifting/anti-social motorbike/motor vehicles/anti-social behaviour/drug dealing and Burglaries

We want to hear from you to better understand what your concerns are and to ensure we are all working together for the benefit of our community.

On these pages you can find priorities in our area that we continue to work on. We will update these priorities with the action we have taken to remedy them.

We can’t do this without you, so we have launched an alert system called Bee in the loop which will enable us to contact you directly about these priorities. It will also enable you to speak to officers on the ground, where you live, so you can tell us what matters most to you.

You can sign up at www.beeintheloop.co.uk

If this isn’t for you, you can also see our scheduled meetings. You will get to speak to an officer directly.

I have recently joined the team as a Sergeant, having previously served within the team as a Police Constable.

Throughout my career, I have gained experience working in proactive policing teams and have been fortunate to receive Commander's Commendations in recognition of my proactive approach to policing.

I am looking forward to working closely with our partners and the local community across the area. I am passionate about neighbourhood policing and encouraging positive engagement with the public.

If you see me or my officers out on patrol, please feel free to stop and speak with us. We are here to listen, support our communities and help keep people safe.

I am Théa Jackson, Sergeant for Didsbury and Whalley Range.

I transferred to Greater Manchester Police in July 2026 following 10 years of service at Surrey Police.

I have spent my career in uniform, favouring community based and front-line policing. I have worked on Response, Neighbourhood and enjoyed secondments throughout my career, promoting to the rank of Sergeant in 2021.

Neighbourhood Policing has been undoubtedly one of my favourite postings. I enjoy the unique challenges each Beat area brings as well as the privilege we have on the Neighbourhood Team to dedicate our time and efforts to resolve community issues, understand our local prolific offenders and support our most vulnerable victims.

Partnership-working, visible hot-spot Policing and cracking-down persistent offenders is the key to delivering against our priorities. Our priorities are Retail Crime, Anti-Social Behaviour and Vehicle Use as well as Drug Dealing and Burglary.

I want local residents to feel safe in their area, supported by their local Neighbourhood Team and confident that we will act upon information given to us. The Beat Officers assigned to your areas are knowledgeable, dedicated and are relentless in their pursuit of bringing offenders to justice.

Please do sign up to Bee in the Loop for local alerts, crime updates and information about upcoming events where you can come and meet us in your area and discuss any concerns.

Anti-social behaviour and drug use in and around Chorlton park and water park

    Issued 06 July 2026

    Action taken:

Your local neighbourhood team will be targeting reports of ASB across the Chorlton Park area. There are dedicated officers for this during peak times on evenings and weekends. We will continue to remain visible in this area whilst working alongside our partners to ensure referrals and diversionary work is completed with these individuals at an early stage.
