Inspector Derek Quinn

Neighbourhood Inspector | Cheetham, Crumpsall & Higher Blackley

I have served with Greater Manchester Police for over 25 years, beginning my policing career as a Special Constable in Stockport in 2001 before joining as a regular police officer in 2003.

Throughout my career I have worked across a variety of operational and neighbourhood policing roles, including as a Response Officer in North Manchester, a Response Sergeant in Tameside and Bury, and a Neighbourhood Sergeant in Prestwich. I was promoted to Inspector in 2021.

For the past 12 months, I have held the role of Neighbourhood Inspector for Cheetham, Crumpsall and Higher Blackley. It is a diverse and vibrant area that presents unique policing challenges, and I am passionate about working alongside partners and local communities to address issues that matter most to residents.

I am proud to lead a dedicated and professional neighbourhood policing team that works tirelessly to tackle crime, protect vulnerable people and help keep our communities safe.

I have worked for Greater Manchester 20 years, I currently work as the neighbourhood sergeant for Cheetham/Crumpsall.

Part of this work involves working closely with partner agencies, local residents and businesses.

My current priorities are violent crime, drug supply and reducing anti-social behaviour.

I regularly attend neighbourhood engagement events and work with local partners to tackle the issues that matter most to residents, these are with local partners where we look to tackle the issues that matter most to residents in a joined up approach.

I encourage members of the community to attend local meetings and share their concerns so that together we can help make our neighbourhood a safer place to live.
