My name is Mark Cheston and I am a Neighbourhood Inspector attached to the City of Manchester Division. My team and I have responsibility for the Longsight, Rusholme, Anson, Northmoor, Coverdale, Brunswick, Ardwick, Manchester Royal Infirmary and Victoria Park wards within the City of Manchester division.

I started my career in the Metropolitan Police before transferring to Greater Manchester Police in 2018. The vast majority of this time has been spent on the City of Manchester District. I have worked at every rank up to Inspector in both response policing and neighbourhood policing teams, managing emergency, critical and major incidents, as well as leading proactive policing operations and delivering on the issues that affect the community the most.

I have also done extensive problem solving and partnership work, mainly within GMP’s Violence Reduction Unit working in partnership with Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Youth violence is something my team and I work tirelessly on to ensure that residents, visitors and students alike feel safe and supported.

My team and I are keen to speak to as many of you as possible and as such we have put together a calendar of Police and Community Together Meetings (PACT). These are community meetings where you can come along in person and speak to your neighbourhood team.

I want to reassure you that we are listening and responding to the concerns that you may raise, whether this be drug dealing, anti-social behaviour, traffic related issues or ongoing neighbourhood problems. We work with the local authorities, housing providers and councillors to ensure that you receive the best possible support. I would encourage you to familiarise yourself with your neighbourhood officers and also to attend our community meetings. You can also sign up to our messaging platform, ‘Bee In The Loop’ to receive regular updates on your area. www.beeintheloop.co.uk
