Inspector Daniel Welch has dedicated over 23 years to frontline policing, with a career rooted in community-focused work and operational leadership. He began his service in Thames Valley Police, transferring to Greater Manchester Police in 2007.
Inspector Welch has gained experience in response, neighbourhood policing, CID, proactive and covert teams and later in prevention via problem solving, where he developed a strong understanding of local crime patterns and community needs.
His leadership journey continued with a promotion to Sergeant on a Wigan response team, Wigan Neighbourhood Team and a prisoner processing team at Bolton. He later moved to Salford, serving as a Response Sergeant, then Neighbourhood Inspector on two other council areas.
Inspector Welch now serves as the Neighbourhood Inspector for Salford Central, where he works closely with residents, businesses, and partner agencies to build safer, stronger communities. Inspector Welch is known for his approachable style, commitment to problem-solving, and passion for making a positive difference in the lives of those he serves.

I have served Greater Manchester Police for 8 years, 6 and half on Response as a PC, Tutor and then Sergeant on the Bury District. I moved to Salford in August 2024 and have been working as the Neighbourhood Sergeant covering Pendleton and Charlestown.

I provide leadership and direction in tackling key local priorities, including anti-social behaviour around Salford Precinct, Drug crime and the delivery of long-term problem-solving initiatives.

Community engagement remains central to my approach. I regularly attend community meetings, engagement events and partnership forums to understand local concerns, build public confidence and ensure neighbourhood priorities reflect the needs of residents and businesses.

I encourage members of the community to actively engage with their local policing team, share information and participate in problem-solving initiatives so that, together, we can make our neighbourhoods safer places to live, work and visit.

I have been part of Greater Manchester Police for 7 years and currently serve as the neighbourhood Officer for Pendleton and Charlestown. My role centres on working closely with local residents, businesses, and partner agencies to tackle community issues and improve safety across the area.

At present, I am working alongside the University of Salford to support student safety and help address anti-social behaviour around the Precinct. I regularly engage with the community through local events and meetings, ensuring that residents' concerns help shape the work we do.

I have proudly served with Greater Manchester Police for 20 years and currently work as the Police Community Support Officer for Pendleton and Charlestown. In this role, I work closely with residents, local businesses, and partner agencies to address community concerns and enhance neighbourhood safety.

A key area of my work involves collaborating with the University of Salford to promote student safety, alongside tackling anti-social behaviour issues in and around the Precinct.
