The Grafton Centre, Grafton Street, Hyde
Antisocial behaviour / Shoplifting
Issued 09 June 2026
The Hyde Town Centre and Godley Neighbourhood Policing Team is targeting prolific shoplifters affecting local retailers. These incidents have had a significant impact on businesses and the wider community, leading the team to implement a range of measures to combat them. Officers are working closely with store management and security teams to identify repeat offenders and implement preventative measures.
In addition to tackling shoplifting, the team is addressing persistent antisocial behaviour within the town centre. This includes increased patrols in hotspot areas, engagement with local youth services, and working alongside partner agencies to provide long-term solutions. The team remains committed to listening to residents’ concerns and encourages the public to report any suspicious or disruptive behaviour to help keep Hyde Town Centre and Godley a safe and welcoming place for all.
