My name is Matthew Harvey, and I have the privilege of serving as the Inspector for Altrincham, Sale, Hale, Hale Barns, Bowdon and Timperley.
Since joining Greater Manchester Police in 2008, I have dedicated my career to protecting the public across a range of roles and communities. The heart of my service has always been frontline policing — standing shoulder to shoulder with residents, responding to the issues that matter most, and working tirelessly to keep people safe. It is this connection with the community that continues to drive me every day.
Across Trafford, we face challenges that strike at the very core of feeling safe where we live: burglary, anti social behaviour, drug dealing and knife crime. These are not just statistics — they are issues that affect real people, real families, and real lives. My officers and staff are committed to confronting these problems head on. Day and night, they work with determination to prevent crime, protect the vulnerable, and ensure that those who cause harm are held fully accountable for their actions.
But policing is not something we do to a community — it is something we do with a community. My door is always open, as are the doors of every officer and member of staff under my command. We want to hear your concerns, your experiences, and your ideas. Together, we can continue to build a Trafford that is not only safe, but a place we are all proud to call home — a place to live, work and visit with confidence.
On this page, you will find the priorities we are actively working on, along with updates on the action we are taking. These priorities are shaped by you, and they evolve as our community evolves.
To strengthen our connection with residents, we have launched Bee in the Loop — a direct alert system that allows us to share updates quickly and hear directly from you about what matters most in your neighbourhood. You can sign up at www.beeintheloop.co.uk.
If you prefer to speak with us face to face, you can also find details of our scheduled community meetings, where you will have the opportunity to talk directly with an officer and share your views.
We are committed, we are determined, and we are here for you. With your support and the strength of our partner agencies, we will continue working to make Trafford one of the safest and most vibrant communities in Greater Manchester.
