I joined Greater Manchester Police in May 2022 and spent the majority of my service working on response policing, where I developed experience dealing with a wide range of incidents and supporting communities across Greater Manchester. During this time, I received commendations for my work and was honoured to be awarded a Royal Humane Society Bravery Award for helping save the life of a man who had suffered a serious stab wound.
In September 2026, I moved into neighbourhood policing, where I am committed to working closely with local communities, building relationships, and addressing the issues that matter most to residents.
Having joined GMP in 2020, I spent time on response policing before moving into the Neighbourhood Tasking Team, where I focused on proactive policing and addressing local concerns.
In late 2024, I moved to Western Australia Police, gaining experience in a different policing environment before returning to GMP in 2026. I am now part of the neighbourhood team, where I enjoy working with residents, partner agencies and community groups to tackle the issues that matter most to local people.
I have proudly worked for Greater Manchester Police for 23 years, serving within a variety of neighbourhood policing teams across the force. My priorities are tackling anti-social behaviour, disrupting drug dealing, and providing reassurance to some of the most vulnerable members of our communities. You will often see me out on patrol or attending community events, where I enjoy building relationships with residents, gathering intelligence, and strengthening links with partner agencies to help keep our neighbourhoods safe.
I've been based in Abram ward for roughly 10 years.
Throughout my time in neighbourhood policing, I’ve worked closely with residents, schools, businesses, and partner agencies to tackle local concerns, address anti-social behaviour, and help keep our communities safe. I’m passionate about building positive relationships and believe that effective neighbourhood policing is built on trust, visibility, and engagement.
As well as being out on patrol and attending community events, I also help manage our GMP social media channels, keeping residents informed about policing activity, crime prevention advice, and community updates. Look out for our posts using #TeamAbram to stay up to date with the work your local neighbourhood team is doing.
My name is Lydia, and I have proudly served as a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) for the Abram ward for the past six years. Throughout my time in the role, I have gained valuable experience working closely with the community, building positive relationships, and helping to make the area a safer place for everyone. What I enjoy most about my job is helping people, whether that is providing support during difficult times, addressing community concerns, or simply being a friendly and approachable presence. I am passionate about helping others, listening to the needs of residents, and making a positive difference in the lives of those within my community. #TeamAbram
Our key priorities are to make you feel safe within the areas you live by focussing on the following four themes; reducing Burglary, tackling Anti-Social Behaviour, dealing robustly with drug use and supply, and to promote and enforce safety on our roads.
These priorities will be updated with more specific detail following our Partners and Communities Together Meetings (PACT).
Issued 13 October 2026
Across Abram, Ashton-in-Makerfield South, Bryn with Ashton-in-Makerfield North, Golborne and Lowton West, Lowton East, Hindley and Hindley Green, we have been carrying out targeted activity focusing on drugs. Warrants have been executed, leading to arrests and the disruption of drug-related activity.
Operation Hurricane has been implemented to tackle anti-social behaviour caused by off-road motorcycles, using specialist equipment and officers such as drones and traffic units. Wigan District has seized 101 off-road vehicles in 2025, up from 64 in 2024.
We have also set up a Community Speed Watch team for Lowton and Golborne. This involves local residents, trained by GMP, who assist with speed enforcement activity in these areas and have had a significant impact on reducing speeding. This will now expand to cover Abram if we receive enough applicants, an advert has been placed for volunteers.
Across Wigan we have seen an 8% increase in Arrests, 24% reduction in Residential Burglary, 21% reduction in Personal Robbery, 16.4% reduction in knife Crime incidents, 9.3% reduction in shoplifting and 3% reduction in Vehicle Crime over the last year.

We recently held a Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting in September online. Previously the main concern raised was speeding in the community. As a result, we are focusing on carrying out further speed enforcement in the area.
We have conducted numerous off road and speeding operations and we will continue to carry out targeted speed enforcement at the locations highlighted in the meeting. We will hold another meeting in a few months’ time and will post details on Bee in the Loop and this website. venue and date to be confirmed
