Our key priorities are to make you feel safe within the areas you live by focussing on the following four themes; reducing Burglary, tackling Anti-Social Behaviour, dealing robustly with drug use and supply, and to promote and enforce safety on our roads.

Retail Crime
Tackling retail crime remains a key priority within the Douglas Ward. We are committed to investigating all reported retail offences where proportionate lines of enquiry exist and will take robust action against those responsible.
Our Neighbourhood Policing Team adopts a proactive problem-solving approach, working closely with local retailers, partner agencies, and the community to identify offenders, target criminality, and protect businesses from repeat victimisation. Particular focus is placed on prolific offenders and locations experiencing recurring incidents, ensuring resources are directed where they will have the greatest impact.
Where appropriate, we will pursue Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs) and other preventative measures against persistent offenders to disrupt offending and reduce harm. Outcomes from enforcement activity, arrests, charges, and court results will continue to be shared through Bee in the Loop and our social media channels to keep residents and businesses informed.
We have identified a number of repeat offenders responsible for retail crime across the ward and continue to work with partners to build evidence, secure prosecutions, and prevent further offending. Through targeted enforcement and ongoing engagement with local businesses, we aim to reduce shop theft, improve confidence in policing, and make Douglas Ward a safer place to live, work and visit.
Our priority is to support retailers, prevent repeat offences, and use all available powers to tackle those who persistently commit retail crime within our community.
