Below is a summary of activity we've undertaken as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action across Manchester:
Neighbourhood officers have dismantled two cannabis farms after acting on community intelligence as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action.
Warrants executed on Burnage Lane and Brynton Road in Manchester at around 6pm this evening (Tuesday 16 June 2026) uncovered around 250 cannabis plants across both properties.
There is a scene in place as officers dismantle the equipment found in the property.
These results highlight our continued focus on keeping communities safe and tackling the wider criminality linked to drug dealing.
Chief Inspector Richard Flanagan from the City of Manchester South neighbourhood team said, "This work is part of our neighbourhood policing week of action, targeting the issues that matter most to our communities. Information from residents is vital and helps us take action against criminality affecting local people to ensure we keep them safe where they live and work."
If you have concerns about drug activity in your area, please report it to us via the LiveChat function on our website or by calling 101. You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers.

As part of the Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action and Operation Lighthouse, officers from the Roads Policing Unit, PCSOs, the North Manchester Neighbourhood Policing Team and the North Manchester Tutor Unit conducted a joint operation on Cheetham Hill Road.
The operation focused on identifying drivers who were unfit to drive through the influence of alcohol or drugs, particularly during the World Cup period, while also addressing a range of road traffic offences in partnership with local neighbourhood policing officers.
During the operation, a total of 45 vehicles were stopped and checked. 15 roadside breath tests were administered, resulting in appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
Officers identified one vehicle being driven without insurance, four offences relating to the use of mobile phones while driving, five vehicles with illegally tinted windows, 15 seat belt offences, and five vehicles displaying illegal number plates.
As a result of the activity, 22 traffic offence reports were issued, and a further 23 motorists received advice or verbal warnings. The operation demonstrated a continued commitment to improving road safety, tackling dangerous driving behaviours, and maintaining a visible policing presence within the community.

Inspector Devalle, PCSO Chadwick and neighbourhood officers attended Prospect House Specialist Support Primary School for their fun day event.
The officers had a brilliant time engaging with the children and their families.
The children were given a tour of the police van and took turns trying on items of uniform.
Thanks to all involved in making the day so inclusive.
We look forward to visiting again in the future.
A prolific burglar who targeted businesses and properties in Manchester city centre and caused over £10,000 in damage has been jailed.
Kieran Maloney (11/02/1997) of HMP Forest Bank was sentenced to three years and two months at Manchester Crown Square Court on Monday 15 June 2026.
Following an investigation by our City of Manchester Neighbourhood Team, Maloney was found guilty of six counts of burglary at a previous hearing.
Between November and December 2025, Maloney broke into businesses and apartment buildings in Manchester city centre, stealing thousands of pounds worth of clothing, alcohol, mobile phones, laptops and computers whilst also causing damage to the properties by forcing entry and breaking into offices and storage areas.
The Manchester East neighbourhood team have been out in the local area carrying out proactive knife sweeps.
These operations target areas where weapons may be hidden, helping us remove dangerous items from our streets and keep our communities safe.
We’re committed to tackling knife crime and working alongside partners and residents to prevent harm before it happens.
