Our Radcliffe Neighbourhood Team conducted proactive patrols yesterday (Thursday 9 July 2026).
A woman who stabbed her 84-year-old husband with a vegetable knife at their home in Bury has been handed a life sentence with a minimum of 12 years in prison for murder.
A significant amount of drugs, suspected to be MDMA and cannabis resin, and about £10k in cash. were also recovered from a nearby address.
Hundreds of bikes remain in GMP’s possession, having been seized from criminals, or recovered as lost or stolen and have been unclaimed over a period of time across the force.
Officers from our Serious Crime Division (SCD) have seized a firearm and recovered a quantity of Class A and B drugs as investigations continue following an incident in Whitefield, Bury.

Operation Hutton was set up in response to the terrorist attack on the Heaton Park synagouge, this has been in place and is ongoing for the future.
Operation Halt has been put in place regarding repeat complaints of speeding and other road related concerns.
Your local Neighbourhood Team, Neighbourhood tasking Team and Bury Council Partners have been working hard to address the priorities and issues that you have raised over the last few months.
There have been some really positive results. This is some work we have been doing. We have been visiting local Primary schools and High schools giving talks on Knife crime, Gangs, Stranger danger and explanations of Online safety, ASB, Criminal age of responsibility.
We have conducted monthly Traffic Operations to keep the roads safe.
We have conducted further Operations which have been set up to tackle crime, drugs, ABS. Our main operation was Op VARDAR Which has given us some great results.
Operation Vardar was set up in September 2024 following a series of violent incidents, across Whitefield, in 2024. Since the start of the operation, the Whitefield Neighbourhood Team have been focussed on tackling ASB, Knife Crime and Drug Dealing across Whitefield. From 01/09/2024 ongoing, we have achieved the following results:

•Offenders Remanded (PRISON): 7
•Voluntary Interviews: 7
•Warrants: 9
•Stop Searches: 106
•Drug Lines Interrupted: 3
•Off Road Bikes Seized: 8
•Intelligence Submissions: 235
•Traffic Operations: 6
•Properties “Target Hardened” by GMP: 11
•Outstanding Stolen Motor Vehicles Recovered: 3
•Offensive Weapons since May 2024 from Op Vardar Nominals: 15
•Individuals open to S.42 Safeguarding Enquiry as part of Care Act 2014: 6
•Public Space Protection Order (currently at Public Consultation): 1 PENDING
•Joint Partnership with Bury Council Housing Services (Tenancies Removed / Revoked / Surrendered): 11
•Joint Partnership with Bury Council Housing Services (Closure Order Warnings): 5
