Your Neighbourhood Policing Team
Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is a group of local police officers and staff dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of police officers and a dedicated Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). These are supported by additional officers and staff from the wider area.
We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for your area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on the basics: to fight, prevent and reduce crime, whilst keeping people safe and caring for victims.

Anti-Social Behaviour and Violent Crime are particularly relevant following a recent rise in incidents within Wigan Town Centre over recent months.
These priorities will be refined and expanded with more specific actions following our Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings with dates being published soon

Wigan Town Centre is home to a thriving night-time economy, attracting residents and visitors to its bars, pubs, restaurants, entertainment venues and events. While this contributes positively to the local economy and community life, it can also lead to increased demand on emergency services and a rise in incidents of violence, anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related disorder, and vulnerability.
As a result, the Wigan Town Centre Neighbourhood Team will make the night-time economy a key policing priority throughout 2026. Working closely with licensed premises, Wigan Council, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, the Street Pastors, transport providers and other partners, we will focus on preventing crime and disorder, protecting vulnerable people, and ensuring the town centre remains a safe place to enjoy.
Our activity will include:High-visibility patrols during peak evening and weekend periods.
Targeted action against violence, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
Working with licensed premises to promote responsible alcohol management.
Identifying and safeguarding vulnerable individuals.
Using intelligence and partnership information to address emerging issues and repeat offenders.
Supporting initiatives that improve the safety of women and girls in the town centre.By maintaining a visible presence and working closely with our partners, we aim to reduce crime and disorder, increase public confidence, and ensure Wigan Town Centre remains a safe and welcoming destination for everyone.
