Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for information following a collision between multiple cars in Wigan.
In the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 18 February 2026), our Serious Crime Division led the arrests of 23 men linked to an Organised Crime Group in Greater Manchester.
A man has been sentenced today (Monday 9 February 2026) at Bolton Crown Court after carrying out a series of violent knife attacks in Wigan town centre on 9 August 2025.
At around 6am today (Wednesday 4 February 2026), officers from our Roads Policing Unit arrested two men on suspicion of burglary and driving offences after a pursuit ended in Tyldesley.
As we move into 2026, our priority is to ensure you feel safe in the communities where you live and work. Over the coming year, we will be focusing on the following five key themes:
Reducing burglary
Dealing robustly with drug use and supply
Promoting and enforcing safety on our roads
Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
Tackling violent crime
The final two priorities—Anti-Social Behaviour and Violent Crime—are particularly relevant following a recent rise in incidents within Wigan Town Centre over the past three months.
These priorities will be refined and expanded with more specific actions following our Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings on 02/04/26.
