Over the past few months, the Town Centre and Outer Beat Team have been tackling ASB and crime in the East Bury area, utilising a number of tactics, including high-visibility hotspot policing and plain clothes patrols.

To tackle ASB, joint work has been conducted with the Council's Anti-Social Behaviour team regarding several known youths causing issues for local businesses in the area. They have successfully been dealt with by the council ASB team and issued banning notices from the local shopping centres. Criminal offences have also been dealt with, and referred to the youth offending team. However, as is the nature of Town Centre policing, we know that new groups will replace the old ones and we need to keep on top of this over the Summer. Bury council have set up a number of free summer activities which youths will be encouraged to take advantage of.

A number of prolific shoplifters have been arrested and received prison sentences. Two have been banned from entering the area for the next two years to protect the local businesses and applications are being submitted to court for several more so that they can be arrested on sight if breached.

Operation Halt continues monthly regarding repeat complaints of speeding and other road related concerns and officers routinely seize vehicles that are either involved in criminality or road related offences during routine patrol. E-scooters are also targeted and seized due to the danger they pose to both the public and riders.

The team regularly conduct stop searches when appropriate, which has led to drugs being seized and action taken against the offenders. The team also gather intelligence to obtain warrants to target those higher up the chain and we are carrying a number of PWITS crimes where people have been stopped carrying considerable quantities of drugs.

The neighbourhood crime team deal with burglary and robbery offenders and conduct detailed investigations to locate these and have achieved a number of custodial sentences due to the impact these offences have on victims.

Officers have also attended a number of events and community venues in the area such as the Gallipoli Parade, Bury Pride, school visits, mosque visits and Bury Comic Con and there are events over the summer which we will also be attending.
